Tech's Demons

Like I mentioned in my last post, I will be talking about Aaron Yates’s sex and drug addictions. As a warning, this post will contain explicit material and is merely for the purpose of informing my audience.  We can start with Tech’s sex life. As I continue to listen to his albums, I have noticed an extremely vast amount of songs referring to the subject. I could go on forever listing all of his songs that mention his sex life and the ways he caresses women. But, I am going to try to focus on the songs that define how sex crazed Tech actually is. Though Tech N9ne has hundreds of songs, I can explain what I mean from 3 songs off the album “All 6’s and 7’s”; “Fuck Food”, “Overtime”, and “Pornographic”. Like I have mentioned multiple times throughout my posts, “Fuck Food” was originally named “Food”. He added the “Fuck” because Lil Wayne and T-Pain (2 of mainstream hip-hop’s top rappers) are featured in the song. Aaron Yates made a promise to his fans that “Tech will never go mainstream, mainstream will go Tech”. This is the reason many of his fans love Tech N9ne. “Fuck Food”, is one of the dirtiest songs I’ve ever heard. From the first verse, they attack the listeners with in depth descriptions of hardcore porn-like lyrics. How vividly he describes his sex life and sexual situations, show us what is truly going on in the mind of Aaron Yates. He also takes it further than his experiences with women. In some songs, he makes up a story about doing evil, sexual things because he (like everyone else) has demons inside that can easily take over. The song that comes to mind from this subject is “In The Trunk”. This song is off the album “K.O.D.”, which means King of Darkness and is arguably Tech N9ne’s most intensely, dark album. I would say this is one of the most messed up songs on the album. This song is basically a story of how Tech got put down by a woman and he takes her back to his truck, ties her up and rapes her “In The Trunk”. He then describes how after he is done, he leaves her in the trunk, tied up, and kept her alive for 2 weeks before the police found her still tied up in the car. This song is intense; the storyline is messed up but also paints a vivid image in your head. In the same album, Tech describes his demons and explains where his devilish ways come from. He says at the beginning of “Horns”, how at nighttime he get really horny and sexual thoughts overcome his mind. He can’t control his sex drive; he explains how his songs are all flooded with sex-driven lyrics, “because I’m horny!” I have seemingly used up all of my words on the subject of Tech’s sex life. So next week, I will continue this talk and hit on his drug addiction too. See you all next week!

“I am a nightmare walkin', psychopath talkin' brain deteriorating cause of x pill poppin' I got more troubles what ever you got it doubles and triples and quadruples having fantasies of eating nipples and noodles. Drugs take the pain away. Used to have a lot of love; but now it fades away. The fact that women love the music and they open their legs for a psychopathic nigga who’s so fucked up in the head; it’s beautiful! For my family, this isn’t suitable.” The reason that I am starting this post off with lyrics is because this is exactly what I will address in this post. These are the lyrics from the song “Trapped in a Psychos Body” by Tech N9ne. I was sitting on the couch 5 minutes ago, listening to some Tech songs to try and get a topic to talk about in this post when this song played. Immediately, I knew what all Tech fans should know about Mr. Yates’s true “Demons.” Aaron Yates is a drug addict, plain and simple. His use of drugs affects his music greatly. He uses this to his advantage to get the support of his fans. Like Tech N9ne, most Tech fans either are drug addicts or have experimented with drugs in general. His concerts are filled with people who are “rollin face”, another way to say ecstasy. By listening to his songs that refer to drugs, it is obvious that Tech is a large ecstasy user. He refers to it in most of his songs in general. He explains in his lyrics, how ecstasy makes everything he does feel better; sex, parties, drinking, etc… The song “T9X” is an intense experience inside the mind of Aaron Yates. It is strictly about Tech using drugs. He explains how he “is in pain and likes to rebel”, and explicitly elaborates on how each drug makes him feel and how he is invincible while high. “Ecstasy, I love you very much. G.H.B., I love you very much. Shrooms and weed, I love you very much. This is the Tech N9ne experience. A.C.I.D., I love you very much. P.C.P., I love you very much. Caribou Lou’s, I love you very much…” Tech goes on to explain how he “doesn’t want to come down off this ecstasy trip.” At the end of the song he warns, “This is my fucked up life! Don’t try this at home.” Tech N9ne is all about being on top of everything; his ultimate goal is to be the biggest rapper in the world. Drugs make Tech feel like he is always on top of the world; it makes him cocky and makes him who he aspires to become. I feel that his drug use actually adds to his fan-base. People love Tech N9ne because he is like everyone else; he was an average Joe who turned into a very successful individual by simply pursuing what he loves to do. He has made music, his passion, his life and what he does everyday. He loves what he does and that is what I take from listening to his music. Aaron Yates is like a mentor to me in some ways because he became successful doing something he loves to do, which is what I want from life. I want to be able to go to work everyday loving what I do and being completely happy in all aspects of life; Tech N9ne gives me the assurance that this is all possible if you just stick with it. All Tech fans should take something like this from what he preaches in his music; he wants everyone to be happy in their lives. However, like most situations involving drug use, it does cause problems in his life too. These songs not only elaborate on how the drugs make him feel, but also explain to his listeners that he has become “trapped” in this addiction. He knows that his life has become “fucked up” from his obsessive drug use. One of Aaron’s largest demons, or aspects of his evil side, is his drug use. The song “Retrogression”, off the album Welcome to Strangeland, explains how he is now off drugs. The song shows listeners how it is a struggle to not retrogress and go back to his ecstasy days. He explains how he misses the drug and the way it made him feel. He has flashbacks to the days when he was “rollin’ face” and it has become an extreme obstacle in his everyday life to stay sober and not retrogress. Tech N9ne has officially stopped doing hard drugs and is working toward becoming a better person in life now.

  1. You really need to listen to tech n9ne's text a little more. Because "in the trunk" he actually tells us about how he put her in the trunk and let the beat bump so she would be addicted to his music, he also says: "and even though she had a big plump rump i threw her in and let the beat bump" which means he didn't rape her.
